SCHOOLHOUSE HELPFUL HINTS
INSTRUCTIONS: Read through the Schoolhouse Help Hints below. If you do not find a specific instruction for a Quest, Task, or Report, make a request for "Instructions" by clicking on the "Create a new report" tab above and submitting your request. (NOTE: Your reports for this task will not be posted. Rather, your request for instructions will be integrated into the body of this Task after you individual report is answered.)
PREPARING YOUR QUEST, TASK, OR REPORT. Here are a few hints that will make preparing your Quest, Task, or Report less stressful:
- MAKE A DRAFT: Set up a "draft" Quest, Task, or Report in order to "see" your work before showing it to the rest of the world. When it is in final draft form, copy the text from the draft version and post it into the "final" work.
Quest or Task authors: Label a separate Quest as "Working Draft" so the School Administrator does not approve it for publication on the Schoolhouse.
Report Authors: Include the word "DRAFT" in your report title as a signal to the Quest author that you do not want the report approved. Eliminate the word "DRAFT" to signal you are ready to publish your report.
- USE A WORD PROCESSOR FIRST: Write your text in a word processing program before entering it in the SolarQuest® Virtual Schoolhouse. When you are ready to post your work, log in the schoolhouse, select your appropriate Quest, Task, or Report, then simply paste your final draft into the dialog box. This will keep you from losing work if you lose your Internet connection, forget to save your work, or make a mistake that you cannot seem to figure out.
- BACK-UP YOUR WORK: Always save your work to a word processing program or other text-based program for your own security as you make changes to your Quests, Tasks, or Reports. If your don't remember this hint, once you lose a major amount of work, you will never forget it again.
